A long time ago...

2000s-2010s.. ish?

Our story begins in the capital of Canada on Turtle island, with a pianist and  vocalist Georgie who was constantly creating music at a young age.  Through her teen years, she entered a few projects, lending her vocal and keyboarding talents. There she would first play music with multimedia artist Shadow. Trying to find her own sound, Georgie wrote originals playing them as a solo act seeking out likeminded musicians to form a band while joining others as well. Once she hit that stage with a full band, she knew what she had to do.

“The Rising” EP

2015-2017

The  first EP was recorded in 2015 with the help of friends in the Ottawa scene. Shadow rekindled her passion for music and volunteered as a vocalist. It would be later released in 2017 over Band camp and Youtube. "Dead Girl Rising" the band was brought to life. With the main inspiration of the album being the song “Dead Girl,” it cemented the piano punk anthem of sexual assault survivors, which catapulted the core values of the band for injustices that needed to be talked about.

"Dead Girl" Live

2019

The first EP  called “The Rising” would be unofficially released on Youtube and band camp in 2017 landing the band a gig at the Mod Club Toronto in March 2019. Through 2019, the band would play a series of live performances in Toronto and Ottawa.

"St Georgette"

2019-2021

Just a couple weeks after the Mod club show, Georgie’s grandmother and the band’s biggest supporter would pass away. In her final days “St.Georgette” would be recorded  on the old beat up, out of tune acoustic piano at hospital where she died. It was released after on YouTube in 2021 as a multimedia art piece video in honour of her life and matriarchs everywhere.

“Everything’s fucked!” COVID

2020-2022

Enter 2020, drummer Inory was recruited in Toronto just a few weeks before the pandemic hit. Later, in the depths of COVID isolation, Californian Bassist Tracy was recruited. Tracks were bounced around. Home studios were put to use in people’s apartments and closets. Inory would record drums in the studio.

Our COVID recordings produced a single “Everything’s fucked!” released at the end of 2020 inspired by politics and the world set ablaze. At the end of 2022, another single was released “Cookie cutter” inspired by societal pressures and breaking free from the mold.

“Bad Girls” united

2023

In October 2023, Tracy visited Canada. For the first and only time, all the bad girls of this lineup played music together in the same room in person.

In February 2024, Inory moved to China and started a new career, resigning from drumming. She continues to be member out of kinship and respect for her work that has yet to be released. We are looking for another drummer to fill in for live shows and recordings.
